Terms & Conditions

Bridal Hair & Makeup Services Agreement
Julia Dillon Creative — Terms & Conditions

1. Retainer & Securing Your Date
A 25% non-refundable and non-transferable retainer is required to secure all bridal service bookings. Your date is not held or secured until this fee is paid. Dates are secured on a first-paid, first-served basis.

2. Final Balance
The remainder of your invoice is due one (1) month before your booking date. If the balance is not paid by this date, I reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled under Section 9, reopen your date to other clients, and retain the retainer and any payments made.

3. Changes to Your Booking
Any changes that may incur extra costs must be communicated to me as soon as possible and paid prior to your booking date. Additions (e.g. extra people) are subject to availability and time. Once your retainer is paid, you may reduce the number of people requiring services, but your invoiced amount will remain the same and will not decrease.

4. Previews
Your package includes one complimentary preview, conducted from my home studio. The preview is optional — if you choose not to attend an in-person preview, we will instead plan your look together over video call. Opting out of a preview does not reduce your package price. If an additional preview is requested beyond the one included, a separate £200 fee applies. Previews must be booked and completed no later than [e.g. two weeks] before your event; missed previews are non-refundable and rescheduling is subject to availability. If you are unhappy following your preview and choose not to proceed with your booking, you will be refunded any monies paid, less the 25% non-refundable retainer.

5. Travel & On-Location Services
On-location services may incur travel and early-start fees, which will be calculated and added to your invoice before your booking is confirmed. The client is responsible for arranging and covering any parking or venue access fees. The client agrees to provide a clean, well-lit working area with access to a power outlet and a table/chair.

6. Destination Bookings (Domestic UK & International)
A destination booking is any booking where the venue is outside my standard service area and requires overnight travel. For all destination bookings, the client is responsible for covering my reasonable travel costs in addition to the service fee, including:

Flights — Return airfare from Edinburgh Airport to the destination, booked in economy class and must include checked luggage (a kit and professional equipment cannot travel as cabin baggage alone). Flights are to be on dates that allow me to arrive in good time before your booking and depart no earlier than the day after.

Accommodation — Accommodation for the night before your booking date, in a clean, private room located as close as possible to the venue/getting-ready property to ensure a punctual, unrushed start on the day. Where an early ready-time or multiple consecutive days are required, accommodation for additional nights will also apply.

Transport — All ground transport to and from the airport, accommodation, and venue, including any transfers, taxis, hire car, fuel, parking, or tolls required to reach the getting-ready location on time.

Travel, accommodation, and transport costs are billed separately from your service fees. Once these costs have been researched and confirmed, you will receive a dedicated travel invoice. This invoice must be paid in full before any travel or accommodation is booked, as these arrangements cannot be secured until payment is received. Because these costs are paid to third parties on your behalf, they are non-refundable once booked, regardless of cancellation. The client may alternatively choose to book and pay for the flights, accommodation, and transport directly, provided the arrangements meet the requirements above and are confirmed with me in advance.

7. Day-Of Timeline & Punctuality
The client agrees to the finalised schedule (created by the Artist) and ready-by time in advance and to ensure all persons receiving services are present and available at their scheduled times. I am not responsible for delays, incomplete services, or additional costs caused by late arrivals, schedule changes, or circumstances outside my control on the day. If a person is unavailable at their allotted time, I may be unable to complete their service, and no refund applies.

8. Postponement / Rescheduling
If you need to change your date, I will do my best to accommodate the new date subject to my availability. The retainer is non-transferable; a new retainer may be required to secure a new date. Any difference in pricing for the new date will apply. A postponement that I cannot accommodate will be treated as a cancellation under Section 9.

9. Cancellation
The 25% retainer is non-refundable in all cases. If you cancel within one (1) month of your booking date, you remain liable for 50% of the remaining balance (i.e. the amount due after the retainer), in addition to the non-refundable retainer. Any payments made beyond this amount will be refunded. If the balance has not yet been paid, the outstanding 50% of the remaining balance remains payable.

10. My Inability to Perform & Limitation of Liability
In the event that I (Julia Dillon Creative) am unable to complete your booking, I will communicate this with you immediately and will, at my discretion, either arrange a suitably qualified makeup artist contracted to Julia Dillon Creative to complete the booking, or refund any payments made. You (the client) agree that this refund (or substitute) is the only liability that I (Julia Dillon Creative) hold.

11. Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, natural disaster, illness, government restrictions, venue closure, or acts of God. In such cases I will refund any payments made, less the non-refundable retainer and any non-refundable travel costs already paid to third parties, and this is the limit of my liability.

12. Health & Allergies
I (Julia Dillon) and any makeup artist contracted to Julia Dillon Creative require information from all clients about any known skin allergies or sensitivities. In no event and under no circumstances will I (Julia Dillon) or any makeup artist contracted to Julia Dillon Creative be held liable for any incidental or consequential damages, however characterised, including but not limited to allergic reactions, skin sensitivities, eye sensitivities, rashes or breakouts. The client assumes all risk associated with undisclosed allergies or conditions.

13. Contagious & Non-Contagious Conditions
Any clients receiving hair and/or makeup services agree to disclose if they have any contagious or non-contagious skin or scalp conditions including but not limited to cold sores, styes, conjunctivitis, scabies, boils and head lice. Clients (and those present who are not receiving services) agree to disclose any other contagious illness including but not limited to Covid-19, common cold, flu, chickenpox, and hand, foot and mouth disease. For hygiene and the safety of all clients, I will not under any circumstances apply makeup or perform hair services on anyone presenting with a contagious condition, including but not limited to cold sores, styes and head lice. I cannot perform any hair or makeup services hygienically if any person present shows symptoms of the aforementioned conditions, and I reserve the right to decline service to that person with no refund.

14. Conduct & Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service
I am committed to a respectful, safe working environment for myself and any artist contracted to Julia Dillon Creative. Verbal abuse, aggression, harassment, threatening or intimidating behaviour — toward me, any contracted artist, or others present — will not be tolerated under any circumstances. I reserve the right to refuse or immediately stop service where there is such behaviour, an unsafe or unsanitary working environment, or intoxication that prevents me from working safely and hygienically. Where service is refused or discontinued for these reasons, the booking is forfeited in full, no refund applies, and any outstanding balance remains payable.

15. Photography & Media Release
On your booking date I reserve the right to take photos and videos of the work I conduct and to use them for my portfolio, website, and social media. If you would like me to wait until after your booking date to post on social media, please communicate this with me beforehand. I will credit all relevant vendors such as hair stylists, florists, photographers, videographers, and dress designers, and ask that this courtesy be returned.

16. Indemnity
The client agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Julia Dillon Creative against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from the client’s breach of these terms or from undisclosed health conditions or allergies.

17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland, United Kingdom.

18. Entire Agreement & Severability
These Terms & Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the parties. Any changes must be agreed in writing. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

19. Acceptance
By paying any part of your invoice and securing your booking date, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all of the above Terms & Conditions.
